This is the first in a series of episodes about speed training for runners, what is a speed workout, who should do it, how to add it to your running schedule, how often, types of speed training, how to maximize the benefits, and what not to do when doing speed training.
Speedwork is, by definition, intense, compared to other runs, but that means there’s much more potential for running injuries. Hopefully, this episode and the next few will provide the knowledge and guidance needed to build a speed program that is both effective and safe.
