MFR 51: The Running Detective, Searching for Clues to Running Injuries
Few things impact our running lives more than injuries. After 37 years of running and 205 races, I can tell you that they are inevitable, and learning to accept that is part of running, but wise training and being proactive rather than reactive will minimize their frequence and severity.
Let’s look at the big picture of finding the cause. Turns out that often, the injury is attributed to running because it hurts when you run, but often it was caused by some seemingly innocent, unrelated, and easy everyday activity. Of course, other times, it is most certainly an injury caused by running.
Diagnosing the may require research and sometimes tests, but for sure, the more you know, the faster you’ll get to the root of the issue, which means returning to 100 percent fitness faster.
