It is not surprising that half marathons continue to grow in popularity. They are the perfect distance to challenge the runner, but training for 13 miles does not have to completely dominate your life. Anyone who can run a 5k can run a half marathon if they’re willing to put in six months of hard work.
In this podcast, I share an article I wrote for the March-April issue of Florida Running & Triathlon Magazine. It features three runners, Deanna Katz, Randal Lott, and Billie Ellenwood. Not so long ago, none of the three even aspired to do a half. All were pleased with doing 5k’s, but everything in their running lives has taken a great turn during the last year, and all have half marathon medals to show for it. It wasn’t easy but it sure was worth it.
The half marathon distance continues to attract more and more people, and every year there are more and more options as that race distance continues to dominate the race scene.
