This can be the year when everything changes.
You can feel good about yourself. You can feel good in your clothes and in your own skin, confident and empowered.
“I started running using this program and have completed several 5k runs . . . I have won a medal in two of them. . . great program, great coach!” – Ginnie Cox
You can do what’s been elusive until now, and it starts with realizing a dream, with becoming a runner. Realizing a dream, doing something that seems out of reach, is lifechanging. You will see yourelf in a whole new light.
“Deb Voiles is much more than a coach, she’s a friend and mentor who really relates to her participants and encourages everyone to exceed at their level and compete with only themselves.” – Angela Myers
Do this, start this journey, and you’ll feel like there is nothing you can’t do.
- Even if you thought it was out of your reach
- Even if you thought you didn’t have the body for it
- Even if you thought you were too old
- Even if you thought you should lose weight, first
- Even if you’ve never been athletic
- Even if you were the last one to get picked for a time in school
This is for you. This is exactly for you, exactly what you need, and you are exactly the person I want to work with.
Getting started running shouldn’t be miserable; it shouldn’t get you injured, and it shouldn’t even be hard.
The first rule, my first rule: “No pain no gain” is perhaps the dumbest slogan ever, and it could not be more wrong. Pain is your body talking to you, and wise people listen.
My runners feel exhilarated, energetic, confident and empowered, and that affects every other aspect of their lives for the rest of their lives.
“I used to say to a friend who tried to recruit me into a running that ‘I don’t run; I’m not a runner,’ but with a push to start baby steps with Debbie Voiles … I became a runner.” – Deanna Katz
Starting running is not intuitive. You need to do it with a coach who understands you, your level of fitness, your goal, your needs. You need to start at the right intensity for you and increase, gradually, at a pace that’s right for you and only you. That, in fact, is the secret.
“Six months ago, I was wearing two knee braces when I tried to run, after two classes with her I haven’t worn a knee brace since! She truly believes in working at your pace, at your fitness level. Don’t be afraid….sign up and give it a try!” – Susan Messer
I’ll get you there. It’s not rocket science, but the right way, the easy way, is not the way most people do it, and that’s why they fail. Maybe you’ve tried and failed before, but this time, you’ll have me in your corner.
And look at the spectacular place we’ll be exploring!
“Thanks, Debbie … it was all you! You did this to me…you got me so hooked…I thank God each day for that little Facebook sidebar advertisement that spoke to me… ‘You can become a runner!’ …I started with you in February of last year…two months into it, I finally ran a full mile without stopping and that was an accomplishment. Now, a full year later, a half marathon under my belt and now full marathon training in the works for October. Thank you!” – Johanne Caglianone
All you need to do is show up with an open mind and . You arrive on Thursday night, and by the time you leave on Sunday, you’ll be armed with the knowledge and the motivation to realize your dream. You’ll understand good running form, and you will have practiced it, with me and with 19 other new friends, all on this same journey.
Imagine sharing a long weekend with 19 other beginner runners, learning everything you need to know to return home a runner.
No worries about where to eat, how to get around, what to do or where to stay. This is a ‘done-for-you’ all-inclusive beginner runner retreat. You’ll spend three nights at the downtown Embassy Suites where you’ll thrive on the camaraderie, enjoy the beautiful waterfront, make memories and make friends.
We’ve got great adventures planned:
We’ll ride the water taxi to Ulele Restaurant on the waterfront for dinner. See Emeril’s visit here.
The Beginner Runner Weekend: Imagine taking all the experiences of several months of ‘in-person’ small group beginner running coaching, with me, Coach Deb, and then puting it into two days with a little spill over into a third.
Classes: We’ll be outside for most of the time, enjoying the beautiful waterfront, but we won’t do a lot of running, simply because people at the beginning of their running career aren’t at the point of being able to do many miles – or even one mile – or even a quarter mile. In fact the people I’m especially hoping to attract are people who are very out of shape. They usually need to start with just running a number of steps. Emphasis will be on the basics of how to train, on cadence, form, injury prevention, nutrition, cross training, everything I would do with my ‘in-person’ beginner runner class.
Who is this for? This retreat is mainly for people just getting started running, from people who can run only 20 steps at a time to people who can manage a mile or more but are still walking much of it. This is for beginning beginners.
More advanced beginners are welcome as well, those who can string together a mile or so, but are looking for guidance in how to train and more.
After you leave: You’ll leave with all the tools you need to succeed, and every person attending will have access to one year of detailed online schedules, and you’ll be in a private Facebook group just for graduates of this retreat.
I’ll get you started on the right foot, and don’t worry, I’m not going to push you to do much running while you’re here. This is NOT a boot camp. If you think you need to be yelled at, this is not for you. Gentle encouragement and empowerment will be the rule. The last thing I want to do is get you injured because you suddenly run more than you’re accustomed to. If anything, I’ve been known to hold people back. Before you even arrive, I’ll send you a detailed questionnaire. That way, I’ll be able to better provide you with exactly what you need when you’re here. My goal is to make sure you have the tools to reach your goal.
It’s personal! Every person will have a one-on-one personal conference with me to discuss your specific personal challenges and goals.
And a full year of membership in my online program is INCLUDED. That way, when you leave, you’ll know that you’ll be able to continue to interact with the new friends you make and with me in the private Facebook. That means you’ll have access to specific weekly schedules to follow when you leave.
