As with any sport, different facets of running tend to get heightened attention for a while until they are superseded by the next popular topic of interest. It seems the ‘barefoot’ running fascination is waning, lately, not because of disinterest but because it’s no longer ‘new.’ Personally, I have been hearing much over the last couple of years about running cadence or stride rate, also known as leg turnover, and I am a huge proponent of every runner devoting regular time to improving this element of training. Hence, the topic for this episode. This is the first of two episodes about running cadence.
The quote at the end of this episode is from runner and coach Andy Palmer. To learn more about Palmer and his legacy, you may want to read this article in Running Times Magazine.
